I cant believe that in about three months I will get to hold my son for the first time. It seems like it was just a few weeks ago that we found out we were going to add one to our family. These next few months we will be getting the nursery ready and finishing our “spring” cleaning. There is a lot still to do to prepare for our little guy’s arrival and yet we can’t wait until he is here – especially my wife.
In the midst of all the crazy these last few months I have found that I get overwhelmed when I try to think about everything that needs to happen between now and April. Especially in the midst of the holidays, when all of our plans seemed to be put on hold, it was tough to stay stress free. I find that when I get overwhelmed, I think back to a question my dad used to ask me in similar situation.
Q: “How do you eat an elephant?”
A: “One bite at a time.”
Literally the best method for keeping myself from stressing out has been to just take one project at a time and not let myself dwell on everything that has to get done. Not only does it help me to focus on the specific task I am working on, but it helps to take some of the pressure off that I have unnecessarily placed on myself.
