I have always been somewhat of a pack-rat. The type of person who holds on to a spare part or a charging cable just in case I need them later on down the road. And it never seems to fail that as soon as I get rid of something I find myself needing a part or piece just like it. Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means a hoarder, but I definitely have way too much junk taking up space in my house.
In an effort to get ready for the baby, and the upcoming financial impact of his arrival, we have begun cleaning our house room by room. As we go we are putting things aside for the garage sale we plan on having. I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised at how easy it has been for me to throw away the junk and put the other unneeded items in the sell pile. I am not sure if I have actually been cured of my problem or if I am simply motivated by the pending arrival of our little boy.
So far we have completely dismantled and cleaned our kitchen, living room, and hall closet. Not all the items we are vendoring are junk either, we are downsizing some furniture, my old paintball gear, and even a laptop. We still have the bathrooms, bedrooms and garage to go and there are sure to be some good vendor fodder in there.
It will be nice to have a clean house when Mikey arrives, and the extra cash will go a long way toward softening the impact of paternity leave.
